“I wrote the ‘Stolen Identity’ track when I found out that someone was trying to pass himself off as me,” says Dave Flett. “When that guy impersonated me, I had to do something to make sure all those good people who’ve loyally appreciated my past work know who is actually playing what!”
Everything is good for something. Dave’s ‘Stolen Identity’ song proved to be the genesis of a new album for him. As a man fundamentally committed to his music, Dave felt serious concern at the prospect that music fans might be subjected to confusion. So he wrote the ‘Stolen Identity’ track, himself. Other songs followed, when he liaised with some articulate, talented Florida guys on the writing of a further 10 tracks.
With all the songs written, Dave progressed to recording the record. Although intentionally produced to achieve the compelling Dave Flett guitar style, the varied, engaging content of the album’s 11 tracks constitute an all-new take on the artist’s stirring and powerful form of musical delivery. The result is ‘Flying Blind’ – an album showing Dave Flett to be very much on form.
